Naughty Nurse Vincent

Due to unprecedented demand I am attaching a photo of naughty nurse Vincent as a "Christmas Special" for all bloggees.
Both Vincent and I wish all bloggees a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. We also thank everybody for their endless love and support during this difficult period.
Sadly our journey is not yet over as there is more chemo, radiotherapy, herceptin and another boob job to go so please keep an eye on the blog for updates.
Please post your comments on my blog for Christmas!

Men in my life....

As well as getting support from my SA girls, my UK girls and now a US girl (hi Penny!) I am lucky to have two wonderful men in my life...

Husband Vincent has been there for me every step of the way - coping with the "diagnosis" and the shock - dismantling our European trip which had to be cancelled - jumping into the car at 3am when I called in tears from hospital - negotiating with medical aid - the list is endless. This whole journey is so long for both of us - it is already three months since the operation but there is still another two months of chemotherapy to get through before the doctors agree on the next phase of the treatment. We spend our life going back and forth to hospital for horrible treatments, blood tests etc. and I think Vincent feels every needle going in as much as I do. I try to be upbeat when blogging but there have been some very dark days recently and only Vincent can haul me out of my depression and convince me there will be an end to this. Another reason to beat this thing is that I need another 30 years with Vincent!

Son Oli is the other man in my life. We have always been close and he is a wonderful son. When he was 12 his dad and I told him we were getting divorced and his response was "I just want you both to be happy" and he has always been supportive of my life with Vincent. When I was considering moving to Cape Town I asked his opinion - although only 21 with no other family in London he said that it was a great opportunity for us and we should go. When I got sick he came over to see me and we spent a wonderful week together and he is constant touch to see how I am doing - its very hard for both of us to be so far apart at this time - his latest effort to cheer me up is to get his pals on "My Space" to contact me so I seem to have a new wave of twenty somethings in my network which is great. Another reason to beat this thing is that I need another 30 years with Oli!

Thanks to bloggees for recent comments which I discovered had appeared on my first "episode" - seems to be a mission to post a comment so I do appreciate all the efforts that go into it! Christmas has come early for me as I got some false eyelashes from UK (thanks Linda!) and there is a consignment of funky hats on its way from Penny in the US! I am not sending Christmas cards this year but will be publishing a Christmas Special blog instead - yes that eagerly awaited photo of Vincent in the nurses uniform ;-) Watch this space!
